Smart energy tariffs
Find out about our 100% renewable tariffs that require a smart meter.
What is a smart energy tariff?
Smart tariffs are energy tariffs designed for homes with smart meters.
Smart meters enable us to automatically collect accurate meter readings throughout the day. This allows us to offer more flexible tariffs that may have different rates designed to help you use energy more efficiently.
For example, lower rates overnight that make it cheaper to charge an electric car. Or accurately recording how much electricity you’re exporting from your solar panels, so we can pay you.
You just need a smart meter that we’re able to connect to. This usually means a 2nd generation smart meter. If you have an older smart meter (such as one installed before 2019), you may need to upgrade your meter before it will work with a smart tariff.
How to switch
With all our smart tariffs, we ask you to first switch to our 100% renewable standard tariff.
This is because it can take a little while for us to connect with your smart meter. So while we get your tariff set up, you can enjoy having all the power you use matched by 100% renewable electricity from our community of independent generators.
