Heat pump tariffs: important information
- Good Energy heat pump tariffs are fixed tariffs. This means your peak and off-peak prices will be fixed for the duration of the tariff.
- Our heat pump tariff is a fixed term tariff of around 12 months in duration. When you get a quote, you will be able to see the specific tariff terms that are currently available.
- You need a smart meter to join our heat pump tariff. You must consent to Good Energy collecting half-hourly meter readings.
- If you switch to another supplier before the end of the fixed tariff, you will be charged an exit fee of £75.
- Your off-peak electricity rates run from 5am-9am and 1pm-4pm, and are not affected by clock changes.
How to save money with a heat pump tariff
Heat pumps already have lower running costs than gas or oil boilers. A heat pump tariff is likely to bring your bills down even further.
A 2-3-bedroom home, heated by a 12kW air source heat pump, could save an estimated £135* a year through using off-peak electricity efficiently. This saving can be achieved by:
- Leaving the heat pump to operate as usual, without rescheduling how it heats your home. This is because the Good Energy tariff is designed around actual heat pump usage patterns.
- Reschedule water heating to your off-peak periods – view our guides to adjusting hot water settings on the Midea and Samsung heat pumps installed by Good Energy.
Together, these two elements would save you around £235. Subtracting £100 to account for higher peak electricity usage rates leaves an overall saving of around £135.
Your specific savings will depend on your electricity usage patterns, current tariff rates and how efficiently you’re able to use your off-peak periods. Larger homes with bigger heat pumps are likely to save more.

Heat pump tariff savings explained
*Save an estimated £109 over the 12-month term of the Good Energy Heat Pump Tariff compared to the October 2024 prices of the Good Energy Standard Variable tariff.
Save an estimated £135 compared to October 2024 price cap rates.
Savings are calculated based on a 2-3-bedroom home with a typical medium electricity and heating demand of 2,700kWh for general electricity usage, operating a 12kW air source heat pump that consumes 3,430kWh per year for heating and 830kWh for hot water. These estimates are based on actual usage patterns observed in Midea air source heat pumps installed by Good Energy at customer sites over the past two years.
