Want your home to run directly on green energy?

Installing solar panels is one of the most accessible ways to generate renewable electricity at home.

Use your power to cut down your energy bills. And if you don’t use everything you generate immediately, you can store it in a battery or export it to the grid – helping make everyone’s electricity that much greener.

Good Energy has partnered with Caplor, who offer installation of renewable technologies including solar panels, battery storage and heat pumps. The below video shows how this partnership can benefit our customers.

How do solar panels work?

Solar panels are fitted to your roof and use energy from sunlight to generate electricity. The electricity generated can be used directly in your own home, stored in a battery or exported to the electricity grid.

Why is now a good time to get solar panels?

Energy prices have reached record highs, with the energy price cap rising to just under £2,000 a year for the average home on 1 April 2022.

While investing in solar panels won’t save you money immediately, generating your own electricity will reduce your exposure to changing energy prices long term. Energy Saving Trust have a calculator that can help you estimate your savings.

Generating renewable electricity also means you’ll be playing a direct part in the fight against the climate crisis. We need to transition to renewable energy as quickly as possible – and the more homes with solar panels, the less we need to rely on fossil fuels like gas.

The benefits of solar with battery storage

If you’re frequently at home during the day, you’ll find it easier to use more of what you generate.

However, Ofgem estimate that the average household only uses around 50% of what they generate. So if you’re not often home until the evening or want to make sure you can always make the most of your green electricity, pair your solar panels with battery storage. This way, you’ll be able to use your solar power even after the sun’s gone down.

Caplor offer a range of packages for solar panels and battery storage. They can talk you through your options to see if you’d benefit from installing a battery as well. Enquire now on their website to find out more.
