Heat pumps extract heat from the outside air and use it to warm your home and hot water, even in temperatures down to -15 degrees. Heat pumps are a bigger upfront investment than boilers, but with the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant (which we’ll apply for you), they offer very strong value for money. 

Typical costs for Good Energy heat pumps (including installation) range from around £4,000 for a simple install to around £8,000 for a standard installation. For homes in England, air source heat pumps usually fall under ‘permitted development’, meaning you won’t need planning permission. New rules introduced in May 2025 have made it even easier to install them, especially for terraced and semi-detached homes.
