2024 was a big year for Good Energy’s purpose. Not only did we continue to supply homes and businesses with 100% renewable electricity, we expanded our clean technology installation services by acquiring three new solar businesses, growing our team to over 400. We also proved our purpose and became the only domestic energy supplier in the UK to become B Corp certified – something we’re incredibly proud of.

Here are ten highlights from our 2024 purpose report:

1. Achieved B Corp certification

We were recognised for our high social and environmental standards, transparency and accountability. To achieve this certification, a company must score 80 points in the B Impact Assessment. We’re proud to say we scored an impressive 118.5 points, becoming the only B Corp domestic-energy supplier in the UK

2. Expanding solar and heat pump installation

Last year, three new solar companies joined the Good Energy group, growing our team to over 400 employees and expanding our install area to cover the south and central UK. We area also now able to complete commercial installations nationwide.

3. Support for microgeneration

Our community of independent generators grew to over 2,500, with 40% representing new connections to the grid. We also launched Smart Export and increased support for community-owned and co-op energy projects.

4. Cut carbon emissions by 247 tonnes

We took action to shrink our carbon footprint—installing a heat pump at our Chippenham HQ to eliminate Scope 1 emissions. In customers’ homes, our heat pump installations helped avoid 247 tonnes of CO2e, replacing fossil-fuel-based heating with renewable alternatives.

5. Maintained World Class Employer status for a third year running

For the third consecutive year, we maintained our World Class Employer status. Ranked 17th among large UK employers by Best Companies and in the top three in the utilities sector, we’re especially proud that 90% of our team would recommend Good Energy as a great place to work.

6. Narrowed our gender pay gap

In 2024, 66% of promotions went to women. Through targeted initiatives to support women in underrepresented roles—particularly in tech—we’ve been recognised by Cord as a leader in Gender Diversity Sourcing. Our gender pay gap also narrowed from 19.8% to 18.3%.

7. Accredited for accessibility

We made sure our digital services are accessible to all. Both our Good Energy app and online account received accreditation from Shaw Trust Accessibility Services, ensuring customers of all abilities can manage their energy with ease.

8. Celebrated our 25th birthday

2024 marked our 25th anniversary. Since our founding in 1999 by Juliet Davenport, the UK’s renewable energy share has grown from just 2% to over 43% – and we’ve been there, along with our loyal customers, every step of the way.

9. Maintained our 5-star Trustpilot ranking for customer service

For the second year running, our customers gave us glowing feedback, helping us maintain a 5-star Trustpilot rating. It’s just one more reason Good Energy is considered one of the UK’s best energy suppliers for service.

10. Launched Good Giving and gave back

Through our employee-led Good Giving initiative, we match fundraising efforts across our team. In 2024 alone, we donated over £8,000 to employee-chosen charities, further embedding purpose into everything we do.

We have a bigger team than ever before, a growing customer base and under new ownership and are excited to continue to tackle climate change by powering a cleaner, greener future for all.
