The small print

This offer is available to new customers who purchase a Good Energy heat pump installation for their residential property within a UK serviceable postcode during the offer period, are residents of the UK, and are aged 18 years or over.  

Qualifying customers who redeem this offer will receive a one-off discount on their Good Energy heat pump installation sale price, worth the estimated cost of a year’s electricity to heat your home’s hot water. The calculation is based on the MCS methodology shown in your quote under “annual water heating (DHW) to be supplied by the installed renewable technology” and excludes immersion use for legionella. The discount uses the electricity price cap in effect on 1 November 2025 (25.73p/kWh) and is applied directly to your heat pump sale price, not as a monthly reduction on your energy bill. The maximum discount available is £514.

From the food we eat to the materials we build with, living in balance with the planet means not taking more than it can replenish. And when it comes to maintaining a safe climate, it means not emitting more carbon dioxide than our natural world can reabsorb.  

Burning fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide that has been locked underground for millions of years, upsetting the carbon balance of our atmosphere. Fossil fuels are thought to be behind 68% of all global greenhouse gas emissions to date. What’s more, they also contribute to air pollution and biodiversity loss

Fossil fuels are also a finite resource. Once they are burned, they will not replenish.

In our video, we recommend that taking less from our planet – ie less of its finite resources, is good overall for human and planet health. 

Using more renewable energy would help people to use less fossil fuels.

Renewable energy generated from wind, sun, rain and waste is an infinite resource that does not negatively alter the carbon balance of our atmosphere. Producing energy from wind turbines, solar panels and hydro turbines does not produce any carbon after manufacturing, transporting and maintenance is taken into account. Offshore wind operator, Orsted, estimates that the carbon emissions from offshore wind turbines are 99% lower per kWh than coal-generation.  

Working in tandem with our earth and protecting it has the potential to improve air quality  - as evidenced during the coronavirus lockdown in 2020, when there was a temporary fall in carbon and nitrous oxide emissions of 40%– showing just how quickly shifting to renewable energy for power, heating and transport could clean up our air and improve our health. Poor air quality is closely associated with multiple health conditions including asthma, cardiovascular disease and lung cancer.  

Moving away from fossil fuels would also help to reverse biodiversity loss, as evidenced in this 2025 WWF report.

 

 

On average, customers can save between £600 and £1,000 annually on their electricity bills after installing solar panels. The exact savings depend on a lot of factors, including: 

The size of the solar system: Homes with a larger system can typically save more on their bills each year, as their solar panels will be covering more of their energy usage, and they will be exporting more. However, the financial outlay will be higher. 

Roof orientation and local weather patterns: The amount you save is based on how much electricity your panels generate – which is influenced by your roof orientation and pitch, as well as local weather patterns. 

Whether your installation includes a battery: As well as helping you to use more of your self-generated power, you can also charge a battery off-peak to provide more low cost power for your home. 

Your energy tariff: Energy prices go up and down – as we saw in 2021 during the energy crisis. When prices are high, your solar panels will help you to save more on your bills, and when prices are lower, you will save slightly less. 

Your electricity consumption and usage patterns: You will see the greatest savings on your bills if you adjust your energy usage patterns. Run energy-intensive appliances when the sun is shining, and try to use just one appliance at a time if you are limited by a smaller inverter. Read more about this below. 

Your export tariff: Joining a high paying export tariff, such as Good Energy’s Solar Savings, will hugely boost your solar earnings. All of your earnings will be added as a credit on your energy account, paying for your energy usage in the winter months.

We use the government’s official carbon conversion factors to compare the carbon footprint of heating a home via a heat pump, with gas and oil. We use an efficiency of 360% for heat pumps, and 90% for oil and gas boilers. UK properties heated by a gas boilers could cut their heating carbon emissions by over 65% by upgrading to a heat pump. For oil-heated homes, this increases to over 80%.

Using remote monitoring, we analysed 102 Midea heat pumps over a full 12 months, covering all seasons. On average, these heat pumps achieved a 360% efficiency (a COP of 3.6) — meaning they produced 3.6 times more energy than they consumed. A 2023 government study of 291 heat pumps found an average efficiency of 290%; which ours outperform by 23%.
