1st September: Renowned green chef and social entrepreneur Arthur Potts Dawson will join forces with 100% renewable electricity supplier, Good Energy, at the Bristol Organic Food Festival at the Harbourside this weekend, September 3rd- 4th. Good Energy and Arthur will be launching the Good Kitchen guide, jam-packed with exclusive seasonal recipes and brimming with tips on how to give your kitchen a green makeover – from sourcing ingredients to cutting your energy use.

Arthur Potts Dawson says: “We’re lucky to have some fantastic food producers in Britain, and it’s great to see growing awareness of the importance of supporting your local suppliers – but how you prepare your food also has an impact. A third of household energy consumption takes place in the kitchen. It’s time to think about cutting down on ‘carbon calories’ using a few simple ideas which I’ll be showcasing at the Organic Food Festival this weekend when I cook up some of my brand new recipes from the Good Energy Good Kitchen guide.”

Low-carbon cooking demo

Arthur will be demonstrating his exclusive recipes from the Good Energy Good Kitchen guide at 12 noon in the Demo kitchen. As well as featuring eight delicious recipes using sustainable food and sustainable energy, the Guide offers readers information on how to cut carbon in their kitchen and invites them to take a seven-day low-carbon cooking challenge.

Just as Arthur Potts Dawson believes in supporting local, seasonal and organic food producers, Good Energy believes in supporting local, homegrown electricity generators. As the UK’s only 100% renewable electricity supplier it has 27,000 customers who have chosen to support a greener energy future.

Good Energy founder and CEO Juliet Davenport says: “Switching to Good Energy is like buying from a farmers’ market rather than a supermarket. Just like food, it all comes down to provenance. We’re really pleased to be supporting the Organic Food Festival this year as we feel that people who care about where their food comes from, and how it is produced, will also want to think about how to cook it in a way that’s best for the environment it comes from.”

Take the carbon challenge and win a year’s free electricity

Good Energy will also show visitors at the Organic Food Festival how little extra it costs to switch to certified pure, green electricity. Visitors will simply be asked to provide their energy usage details and choose a small food indulgence they could substitute – coffee, chocolate or wine – which represents the additional monthly cost of switching to carbon-free electricity. In return, Good Energy will give them the indulgence of their choice and a free copy of the Good Energy Good Kitchen guide. What’s more, anyone switching their electricity supply to Good Energy at the festival will get £50 off their first bill and the chance to win a year’s free electricity.**So come along to stand 138*, find out more about Good Energy’s community of generators producing homegrown energy, and take the carbon challenge!

Carbon-free travel at the festival

Good Energy is also partnering with rickshaw company Pedal Walla to provide zero carbon transport to and from the Festival. Pedal Walla has a simple mission – to bring a completely new form of green pedal-powered transport to Bristol, the UK’s first cycling city, and make travelling by bicycle rickshaw a part of Bristol’s identity.
