Good Energy has been accredited Which? Eco Provider status for the fourth year in a row.

In addition, Good Energy’s dual-fuel standard tariff has been awarded with Gold standard by Uswitch Green Accreditation, making the company the only energy supplier to hold both accreditations.

Renewable electricity company Good Energy’s green credentials have been reaffirmed through renewed standards from consumer experts at Which? and Uswitch, the price comparison and switching service. The company has secured Which? Eco Provider status for a fourth year, whilst retaining the Uswitch Green Accreditation Gold standard for its standard tariff.

In a comprehensive evaluation conducted by Which?, 17 energy companies were assessed based on their sustainability practices. Good Energy earned an impressive overall score of 85 percent, securing Which?’s recommendation as an Eco Provider.

Good Energy excelled across several critical categories, receiving full points for its efforts in buying and selling renewable power, green gas sales, time-of-use products, low-carbon installations, and greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition, the  Gold standard accreditation of Good Energy’s dual-fuel standard tariff signifies its status as among the greenest available in the market.

Launched in 2021, the Uswitch Green Accreditation is assessed by a panel of independent energy experts. It is the first initiative to categorise tariffs into Bronze, Silver, and Gold classifications based on criteria set by the panel, helping consumers better understand ‘green tariffs’ and the variety of approaches suppliers are taking on renewable energy.

Gold standard is attributed to tariffs which provide 100% of renewable electricity from PPAs and cover a minimum of 10% green gas. Good Energy has power purchase agreements (PPAs) from more than 2,500 independent generators, allowing them to track the source and match it to customer demand down to half-hour intervals.

Good Energy also received a ‘Green Commendation – Outstanding Contribution’ from Uswitch Green Accreditation for its work on time-matched renewables and evidencing their positive impact. The panel commented: “Focusing on renewable energy generation that matches real-time usage, Good Energy is making a big difference in reducing carbon emissions and enhancing the efficiency of green energy use.”

Both Which? and Uswitch recognitions highlight Good Energy’s unwavering commitment to providing truly green electricity, sourced from a network of over 2,500 independent generators across the UK.

Nigel Pocklington, chief executive of Good Energy, said “Having our green credentials verified by independent consumer and energy experts gives our customers peace of mind that their homes are supplied with genuine renewable energy. This wouldn’t be possible without our network of small-scale generators across the UK, a unique model which is what is different about how Good Energy supplies energy.”

About Uswitch Green Accreditation classifications:

Classification What it means
Bronze Bronze Standard Green tariffs provide electricity that is matched with renewable generation certificates (REGOs). Suppliers can buy these certificates to show how much renewable electricity has been put on the grid.
Silver  Silver Standard Green accreditation is given to tariffs that include 100% of electricity bought directly from renewable generators via so-called Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
Gold Gold Standard Green tariffs provide 100% of renewable electricity from PPAs and cover a minimum of 10% green gas.

The Uswitch Green Accreditation, which launched in 2021, is the first scheme to categorise tariffs into Bronze, Silver and Gold categories, with the aim of helping consumers better understand green tariffs and the different approaches suppliers are taking on renewable energy.
