Innovations to bring you extra value

Hourly Matching Credit is a free, opt-in scheme from Good Energy that helps businesses and generators save more while making the grid greener. It provides unprecedented transparency, showing how your generated energy is matched with customer demand hour-by-hour.

When your energy matches up with what our business supply customers are using, you’ll benefit from reduced third party charges – rewarding you for helping to balance the grid.

Answering your FAQs

A PPA is a contract between a renewable generator (like you) and an energy supplier (like us). It sets out how much we’ll pay you for the electricity you export to the grid, and for how long.

Whenever your renewable system generates more electricity than you use, that surplus is exported to the grid. Through a PPA, we buy that exported electricity from you, creating a steady income stream.

We work with generators of all sizes – from large-scale wind and solar farms to small businesses with rooftop panels. If you export more than 20 MWh of renewable electricity a year, we’re here to help you sell it.

No. You don’t need to be a licensed supplier. We handle all the regulatory side of things. All you need is an accredited renewable generator and an agreement with us.

We support a wide mix: solar, wind, hydro, anaerobic digestion, and more. If your site is REGO accredited, we can set up a PPA; and if it’s not, we can support you while it becomes accredited.

It depends on what works best for you. We offer different contract lengths, from shorter-term flexible agreements to longer-term fixed-price deals that provide certainty.

Prices are linked to the wholesale electricity market. Some PPAs track market rates, while others offer a fixed price for stability. We’ll walk you through your options so you can choose what suits you best.

Yes. We’ve designed options specifically for smaller generators, so you don’t need to be a big wind farm to benefit.

The Feed-in Tariff scheme was a subsidy paid to generators for all energy the generate. The scheme closed to new applicants in 2019. If your project is FIT-accredited, you can combine your FIT Generation payments with a PPA to boost your project income. If your project was commissioned after the scheme closed, a PPA is now the main way to earn income from new renewable generation, and it can often give you more flexibility and value.

It’s simple: contact our PPA team, share a few details about your generation system, and we’ll guide you through the next steps to get your PPA up and running.
