The challenge: A manufacturer wanting energy security and reduced carbon emissions

bigHead design and manufacture composite material fastening products, used by a wide range of clients including Rolls Royce, Maclaren, Siemens and Tesla.

Passionate about sustainability, bigHead has been on a journey to reduce its carbon emissions for around 5 years. This included switching to 100% renewable electricity in 2020 and investing in a Gold Standard carbon offsetting project which is bringing biogas technologies to rural communities in Kenya.

Wanting to do more and favouring a trusted local installer, they appointed Good Energy Solar to install their solar panel system in 2023.

The Solution: an optimised solar array, with payback in only 7 years

Good Energy Solar designed a bespoke solar solution for bigHead. The system comprises of 109 450W solar panels, 56 SolarEdge optimisers, and 2 SolarEdge inverters.

We expect them to get return on investment in just over 7 years; and save £8,000 a year on their energy costs each year, which is over 50% of their bill.

bigHead also benefit from Good Energy’s multi-product offering. As an energy supply customer as well as a solar install customer, they receive an exclusive higher rate for their exported power.
