Energy is one of the biggest costs for many businesses, so understanding how much electricity and/or gas is being used and when, can provide opportunities to change habits and reduce overall consumption.

SMETs is the most common type of smart meter and you’ll usually know if you have a different type such as AMR or Half-Hourly. You can check if your meter is a smart meter (SMETs) on the citizen’s advice website:

Traditional meter

Data insights are limited for traditional meters because we only know how much energy has been used when you provide a meter reading, or when one of our agents visits site to take one. We would recommend providing us with a reading around the time that your bill is due – if we have your email address, we’ll let you know when your bill is being prepared and it’s time to submit a read.

We’re improving your online account so that you’ll be able to access your meter read history at any time, and in the meantime, we’ll be happy to provide you with this information on request by emailing hellobusiness@goodenergy.co.uk.

Smart meter (SMETs)

Smart metering opens up new opportunities to understand the energy you’ve used. First of all, we’ll take a reading remotely around the time your account is due to bill so that you’re only billed for what you’ve used.

We’re also improving your online account to introduce usage graphs that you can interact with to better understand how your organisation uses energy. This feature will automatically be available to customers who have:

– An online account

-A smart meter

-‘Opted in’ to allow us to take half-hourly readings from the meter

If you don’t yet have an online account or your usage graphs aren’t populating yet, email the team at hellobusiness@goodenergy.co.uk and we’ll get things set up for you.

Smart meter (AMR)

We’re working to bring data insights to your online account, but in the meantime we offer a monthly usage report detailing the energy you’ve used in the past month alongside interactive graphs you can use to interrogate your consumption.

If you have an AMR meter and would like to receive this report, please email us at hellobusiness@goodenergy.co.uk to ‘opt in’ and we’ll automatically send you a report each month.

Half-Hourly Meter

You can download your usage data on your online account. If you don’t have an online account yet but would like to access your data, email the team on  hellobusiness@goodenergy.co.uk and we’ll get one set up for you.
