The challenge: A 15-branch builders merchants on a decarbonisation journey

Covers Timber & Builderds Merchants, a well-established company with a network of 15 branches across the South of England, aimed to reduce its energy costs and carbon footprint. As a business with high energy consumption across multiple sites, Covers was looking for a reliable and sustainable solution to lower their reliance on grid electricity and future-proof their operations against rising energy prices.

The solution: 178kWp solar panels helping them save over £50,000 a year

Good Energy Solar was selected to design and install a solar energy system that met Covers’ operational and environmental goals. The project involved the installation of two systems with a combined capacity of 178 kW, featuring:

– 430 Jinko solar panels
– 215 SolarEdge optimizers
– 2 SolarEdge inverters

The systems now produce approximately 161,989 kWh of clean electricity annually, enabling Covers to reduce their electricity bills by around £54,000 per year and cut annual carbon emissions by over 90 tonnes.
