How do commercial heat pumps work?

  • 1 / 4

Heat pumps extract heat from the outside air

Air source heat pumps extract heat from the outside air, even in sub-zero conditions.

Air is then drawn into an external unit and passed over a refrigerant that evaporates at very low temperatures.
  • 2 / 4

Vapour is compressed to raise its temperature

The resulting vapour is compressed to raise its temperature further, and this heat is transferred to your building’s heating and hot water systems.

The refrigerant then returns to liquid form, ready to repeat the cycle.
  • 3 / 4

Heat pumps provide a consistent temperature all day long

Unlike gas boilers, which operate in short, high-intensity bursts, heat pumps maintain a consistent temperature, improving comfort in workspaces and customer areas.
  • 4 / 4

Heat pumps bring multiple benefits for commercial premises:

    • Cost savings – due to heat pumps’ impressive efficiency
    • 65% lower carbon emissions from your business premises*
    • Simplified maintenance and longer equipment lifespan
