Renewable energy supplier Good Energy has today announced it is the headline sponsor for COY16, just weeks before the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) is held in Glasgow.

The UN Climate Change Conference of Youth will take place on the 28th of October and run for four days prior to the official start of COP26. COY serves as a space for capacity building and policy training, to prepare young people for their participation at COP.

Good Energy is the headline sponsor for the 16th year of COY, which is reliant on sponsorship and funding to run. The two purpose-driven organisations are aligned in their values and passion to tackle the climate crisis, making a well-matched partnership.

One of the major outputs of COY16 is the policy document crafted by youth voices from over 140 countries, which will be put forward during the UN Climate Negotiations.

This report will be based on input from youth all across the globe, with young people of all nationalities and backgrounds, including indigenous and non-country affiliated groups. It will feature global youth demands and recommendations, as well as country-specific proposals.

With the help of funding from Good Energy, this year, young climate changemakers from 140 countries across the world will be able to attend the conference in Glasgow in person, to represent the needs of the world and work together to find solutions to the climate crisis.

During the conference, delegates will take part in workshops to develop key skills including; pitching, fundraising, event management, and public speaking, whilst learning about how climate change affects various industries

With a customer base of 270,000 UK customers, Good Energy has long been an advocate for climate change and is well known for leading the fight against misleading greenwashing claims within the energy industry.

Last year, Good Energy announced the launch of their Good Future Board, comprising of 6 secondary-school-aged members. The Good Future Board feeds into how Good Energy is run and makes sure the voices of tomorrow’s leaders are heard, offering creativity from the perspective only someone who has their whole future ahead of them can have.

The Good Future Board will be supporting events at COY and working with members of the COY team to ensure their voices are heard and represented to protect their future in the fight against climate change.
