Around one in four of us here in the UK will experience mental ill health. The other three in four of us will probably experience supporting our partners, children, family, friends and work colleagues through mental health challenges.

It’s an issue that affects us all, and because of this, we wanted to recognise it at Good Energy as equally important to physical health. 

That’s why we made the decision to train 11 people from around the business to be Mental Health First Aiders, in a two day course with MHFA England last month.  

Here’s what some of them have to say about why they were inspired to become a Mental Health First Aider, and how they hope to help their friends, family and colleagues.

We want to make it very clear that there are people around who can help, can support and are able to listen to anybody that wants to come forward.

As Fran Woodward, our Director of People & Culture, puts it: “We want Good Energy to be a place where everyone feels comfortable talking about their mental health. We are delighted to have a team of Mental Health First Aiders who are on hand to help people get the support they need.”

Over the coming months, we’ll continue by offering further training and raising awareness.
