Good Energy beats big names at BusinessGreen Leaders Awards

100% renewable electricity company Good Energy has been named ‘Company of the Year’ at the 2015 BusinessGreen Leaders Awards.

The renewable electricity supplier and generator triumphed at the awards following its continued commitment over the past 12 months to promote a low carbon economy and develop new and sustainable ways of doing business within its work.

The company beat several well-known organisations to win the title including IKEA UK & IE, Nationwide Building Society and BUPA.

The annual awards, now in their fifth year, were set up to celebrate those businesses, individuals and campaigners from across the green economy who are taking action to tackle environmental risks and promote cleaner technologies and business models.

James Murray, Editor of BusinessGreen said: “Good Energy has long been a champion of the green economy and now it is the BusinessGreen Company of the year.

“Having pioneered the development of green tariffs, the company last year put in a stellar performance, expanding its customer base, topping customer satisfaction polls, investing in new renewables capacity, supporting independent generators, launching new community tariffs, and investing in innovative new clean technologies.”

Juliet Davenport OBE, CEO and founder of Good Energy, said: “It’s brilliant to receive this award as it acknowledges the efforts of everyone’s hard work over the past year.

“Our mission to tackle climate change remains hugely important to us and despite 2014 being a tough year; we’ve continued to grow as a business, seeing even more consumers opt for 100% renewable electricity.

“Every single employee at Good Energy has played a part in achieving this so it is fantastic for their successes to be recognised in this way.”

Judges came from companies including Tesco, Aldersgate Group, the Renewable Energy Association and the CBI.
