And now, we are proactively moving our eligible FIT customers over to Smart Export.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this article, we explain how FIT payments are currently calculated; how this changes if you move onto Smart Export; and how to switch your FIT portfolio to Good Energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How are FIT payments calculated?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow is--inner-block\">\n<p class=\"is--inner-block wp-block-paragraph\">If you registered your small renewable technology before April 2019, you will receive two kinds of FIT payments for the power you generate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is--inner-block\">\n<li class=\"is--inner-block\">Your generation payment \u2013 for every unit (kWh) of electricity you generate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"is--inner-block\">Your export payment \u2013 a payment that estimates that you\u2019ll send 50% of the energy you generate to the grid. This is known as a deemed export payment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is--inner-block wp-block-paragraph\">The unit rates you get for each of these payments will be distinctive to your generation type and when you installed your technology.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow is--inner-block\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is--inner-block\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"697\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goodenergy.co.uk\/business\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/Wessex-Eco-image-2024-e1710951968148-1024x697.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2315\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.goodenergy.co.uk\/business\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/Wessex-Eco-image-2024-e1710951968148-1024x697.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.goodenergy.co.uk\/business\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/Wessex-Eco-image-2024-e1710951968148-300x204.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.goodenergy.co.uk\/business\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/Wessex-Eco-image-2024-e1710951968148-768x523.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.goodenergy.co.uk\/business\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/Wessex-Eco-image-2024-e1710951968148.jpeg 1269w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What changes with smart export payments?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Smart Export pays FIT customers with a smart meter for the energy they actually export to the grid, rather than an estimated 50%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our initial findings* from April to September 2023 show that <strong>our customers are exporting on average 60% of the electricity they generate<\/strong> to the grid \u2013 meaning they are making <strong>more money<\/strong> by moving to Smart Export. The larger the portfolio of sites, the more money customers on Smart Export can make.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Smart Export will only affect a generator\u2019s export payment. This could see you earning more from your portfolio, like Good Energy&#8217;s customers*. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Access more smart tariffs: <\/strong>We well as proactively moving our customers onto Smart Export, we\u2019re also working on a new product that will offer small generators more for the electricity they export.
