This could add unnecessary costs to your outgoings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Make sure your bills are accurate by submitting regular meter readings. If you\u2019re a Good Energy customer,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodenergy.co.uk\/meter-reading\/\">submit a meter reading via our website<\/a>&nbsp;or by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/account.goodenergy.co.uk\/\">setting up an online account<\/a>.<\/li><li>Don\u2019t forget about your existing contracts and renewals periods to avoid out of contract rates. For support with your Good Energy supply contract, email&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:billingb2b@goodenergy.co.uk\">billingb2b@goodenergy.co.uk<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"access-government-support\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Access government support<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Government aid is available to support small businesses through the crisis. Here are some of the actions that we have taken as a business; you may find some of these useful for your organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"making-sure-our-people-have-the-equipment-they-need\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Making sure our people have the equipment they need<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Like work based at business premises, employers are still responsible for some aspects of their peoples\u2019 health and safety when they work from home. At Good Energy we\u2019ve arranged to have equipment such as monitors and desk chairs delivered safely to all of our people who have requested them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can check the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acas.org.uk\/working-from-home\">ACAS website<\/a>&nbsp;for further advice on making home working work for your business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"keeping-our-teams-working-together\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keeping our teams working together<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Meetings have been replaced with video conferencing across the business. To reduce the risk of isolation, we\u2019ve also encouraged teams to set up daily group calls to check in on everyone and keep in touch. We\u2019re even using an open conference call format to deliver our monthly team brief, where our senior management team share key updates with the whole business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"flexible-working-and-exceptional-leave-policies\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Flexible working and exceptional leave policies<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We invited everyone to share their views on how we could support them, using this to develop policies to enable people to carry out their roles and take time out for care duties. These include offering paid exceptional leave for people who need to care for dependents or who wish to volunteer in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"supporting-health-and-wellbeing\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supporting health and wellbeing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Working from home for such an extended period is new to all of us. We recognise that it may take some of our people time to adjust \u2013 and that the stresses of being in a pandemic may mean some days are more difficult than others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some of the ways that we\u2019re helping our team focus on wellbeing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Our Mental Health First Aiders are ready to support colleagues who need to talk.<\/li><li>Our people are using our internal communications channels to share uplifting ideas and activities to help others through lockdown, including setting up a Strava club to inspire colleagues to log their daily exercise.<\/li><li>We\u2019re exploring running online social events such as a company quiz.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gebusinessstaticprod01.blob.core.windows.net\/images\/blog-posts\/_1122xAUTO_crop_center-center_70_none\/pilio-web-banner3.jpg\" alt=\"Two colleagues work together, with one using a laptop.\" \/><figcaption>Supporting your employees with both work and wellbeing is vital.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"think-about-sustainability-green-businesses-are-more-resilient\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Think about sustainability \u2013 green businesses are more resilient<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The working world will start to turn again. And the need to cut carbon emissions to tackle climate change hasn\u2019t gone away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Businesses that put long-term sustainability at the heart of their operations are more resilient in the face of external challenges. For example,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gbm.hsbc.com\/insights\/global-research\/esg-stocks-did-best-in-corona-slump?_lrsc=ccb36746-1bbe-4d98-85db-0c3bfa89806c\">research by HSBC<\/a>&nbsp;has shown that shares in companies focused on environmental and climate issues outperformed others during the initial stock market turmoil caused by COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being able to demonstrate you\u2019re prioritising sustainability has multiple business benefits, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Boosting your reputation with other businesses; consumers; and current and potential employees.<\/li><li>Gaining a competitive advantage over businesses that are lagging behind on sustainability.<\/li><li>Enabling you to meet government requirements to reduce carbon emissions.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Explore how you can further reduce emissions across your business; from making sustainability a clause in supply chain contracts to ensuring investments aren\u2019t supporting fossil fuels. And in the long-term, thinking about how to incentivise clean travel for your clients and workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow
