The challenge: Sustainability-minded council on a mission to cut carbon
North Kesteven District Council in Lincolnshire have an ambition to be net zero by 2030 – and their energy usage was a key area contributing to their annual emissions. They chose Good Energy Solar to install a 13 kWp solar array back in 2015 – and in 2022 they set out a tender to substantially extend this solar array.
The project required planning permission, as it was within the grounds of a Grade II listed building – which Good Energy Solar assisted with. Planning was approved within three months.
The Solution: A 102.7 kWp solar array that seamlessly integrates old and new panels
Good Energy Solar responded to the council’s tender, submitting a design for an additional 89.7 kWp SolarEdge optimised array that seamlessly integrated old and new solar panel systems.
The council have been delighted with both of their installations and have seen a 30% reduction in the power they draw from the grid, as well as yearly savings of £22,500.
They upload monthly data to their website which shows their ongoing efforts to reduce carbon emissions, as well as displaying their solar statistics in their office reception for visitors to see.
