Hourly Matching: The future of renewable energy supply
Good Energy is working with third-party supplier, Granular SAS to create an hourly energy matching service.
This will provide business supply customers with transparency about what generation technology has produced their power, and how much has been produced, on an hourly basis.
To make hourly energy matching possible, we’re asking our generator community to approve us sharing their export data with Granular.
What is the benefit of hourly matching?
Hourly matching comes with many benefits. These include:
- It helps supply customers with their carbon reporting
- It helps to tackle greenwashing in the industry head on
- It enables supply customers to share how their energy is generated with their employees, customers and investors.
- It helps prove that it is possible for the grid to incorporate a higher level of renewables.
How will you use my export data?
To include your site(s) in this hourly energy matching platform, we need to provide the following information to our third-party supplier, Granular SAS:
- Your MPAN (meter point allocation number) – this is to ensure data is not duplicated and to help prevent greenwashing,
- Your site’s renewable technology type.
- The amount of energy you have supplied to us on an ongoing half-hourly basis.
Our hourly matching platform will not show your MPAN or enable a customer to identify you as a specific generator.
If you choose not to provide your approval, we won’t include your site on the Granular platform.
If you do provide your approval but no longer wish to participate in the hourly matching service at any time, you can withdraw your approval by emailing us at ppa@goodenergy.co.uk.
Join our hourly matching platform by clicking the approval link in your email.
