Good Energy is the official sponsor of Extinction. A new short film starring Emma Thompson, released to mark the anniversary of the UK declaring a climate emergency.
On the 1st May 2019, the UK became the first country in the world to declare a climate emergency. A historic moment that took place after a fortnight of protests by the campaign group Extinction Rebellion.
It was a major breakthrough in putting climate change at the heart of the political agenda, taking a central role in every major political party’s manifesto in the 2019 general election.
Marking one year on from the milestone moment, Extinction is a new film sponsored by Good Energy and starring Emma Thompson, taking a satirical look at the juxtaposition between protestors and politicians.

Juliet Davenport, CEO and Founder, Good Energy said: “A year ago The Extinction Rebellion movement battered down doors to get climate on the mainstream political agenda. Declaring a climate emergency was a historic moment for the UK, but it was only ever going to be the start. Words require action, and now is the time for action.
“Today we face a different crisis, which is rightly demanding the attention and focus of our government. But from this dark time, we can bring an opportunity to reset our economy, politics and to build a renewable future that can be better for all of us and for our planet.”
Switching to genuine clean power is one of the biggest ways you can help fight the climate emergency. To celebrate the launch of the film, Good Energy is offering £100 credit for new customers using the code ‘Extinction Film’ when they switch online here.
