About the role
Reporting the Energy Portfolio Manager, as Trading Analyst you will be responsible for reducing exposure to imbalance costs by accurately balancing supply and demand for power and gas. The core responsibilities will entail short-term position balancing and supporting on longer-term curve trading for power and gas, daily reporting and analysis with the purpose of improving trading performance.
You will also provide support to the sub-functions within Trading and Portfolio Management to manage the different trading positions and help identify longer-term hedging trades that need to be placed. You’ll get the opportunity to lead on trading projects to enhance operations and models, including analytical and written work. You will also be responsible for trading “back-office” processes to fulfil our contractual obligations with counterparties.

About You
Highly numerate and very strong with Microsoft Excel, you’ll be able to deliver high quality complex analysis in clear and concise language. You will have a good understanding of market risk versus return and ideally will have an interest and knowledge of the renewables energy industry. It would be a distinct advantage if you have knowledge or experience of the power and gas markets as well as trading decisions.

This role requires a flexible self-starter who is capable of taking on responsibility whilst working in a highly productive team. You’ll have strong organisational skills, great attention to detail and able to balance priorities effectively.

You will enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team as well as confident to build relationships with key stakeholders.
