About us

Changing the world is no easy task. But in 1999 that’s exactly what Good Energy set out to do. Its purpose is to enable people, in their homes and their businesses, to play an important role in combatting climate change, by providing households and businesses access to locally sourced 100% renewable energy.  Fast forward to today, and the business is now a key player in the renewable energy space, and despite challenging market conditions has continued to grow profitably over the past 5 years.

The business has recently reviewed its longer term strategy and is now poised to take a leap forwards, focused on a transformational growth agenda which delivers long term value for its customers, shareholders and people. This will enable the achievement of its purpose; powering the choice for customers, of a cleaner greener future.    Good Energy now employs around 300 people in the historic market town of Chippenham, Wiltshire.

About the role

Reporting into our Head of Audit and Risk, as Compliance Manager you’ll be responsible for leading and developing a high performing compliance team, delivering in line with defined strategy. You will critically review, manage and deliver compliance activities, working with internal stakeholders to ensure “buy-in” and alignment on accountability.

You will be responsible for ensuring Good Energy is aware of their requirements to meet relevant and applicable laws, regulations and industry agreements and work with the business to drive delivery and find proportionate and practical solutions in instances of non-compliance.  You will keep up to date with legislative and industry changes, and ensure these are communicated with key stakeholders to enable accurate planning and delivery.

About You

With a relevant degree or experience in a similar role within the energy industry, you will have considerable compliance experience working within a highly regulated industry.  You will have successfully managed and led teams and have working knowledge of applicable regulations, laws and industry agreements including GDPR.  An understanding of the UK government’s agenda which is impacting the energy industry would be a distinct advantage.  You will have strong analytical skills and experience of analysing data sets, identifying trends and performance indicators.

You don’t have to have a background in renewable energy but you must be motivated by working for a purpose and values led organisation, and have the capability to learn about a complex industry, fast.
