We’re embarking on an exciting new phase that will transform Good Energy into a digital business that’s at the forefront of technology in the energy sector. To make that happen, we’re forming a new team of digital experts to lead this transformation by building apps, sites and other software that will truly set us apart in the eyes of our customers and do things no-one else can.
As more and more people are getting smart meters in their homes, we’re gearing up to build exciting new tools that bring an unbelievable amount of insight to our customers around the way they generate, store and consume their energy.
About the role
We’re looking for a back-end software developer to join us at this early stage to help us make a step-change in the digital experience we offer our customers and bring to life Good Energy’s purpose to create a cleaner, greener future.
You’ll work closely with your colleagues in the team and key stakeholders across the business to develop our Good Energy app. Your role will be responsible for the delivery and quality of the data layer that powers the interfaces on our iOS and Android platforms, as well as collaborating with designers and other developers on the functionality of the interfaces.
You’ll work collaboratively with people to solve problems, identify solutions which are supported by data and metrics. You’ll be keen to develop your skills and experience in a dynamic environment.
You’ll be a self-starting, experienced developer who has experience in leading and developing a high performing team of other developers and is excited by the idea of changing customer habits to help them to contribute to a cleaner, greener world through technology and digital interfaces.
You’ll have strong knowledge and experience with RESTful APIs to connect iOS and Android applications to back-end services. A proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git, you’ll have an understanding of differences between multiple delivery platforms such as mobile vs desktop, and optimising output to match the specific platform.
Additionally, you’ll have experience of managing a hosting environment, including database administration and scaling an application to support load changes.
