Our approach to development
Nurturing a closer connection between communities and the energy they use is vital to achieving a 100% renewable future. We believe that when people understand where their energy comes from and have a sense of ownership of it, they will value it more and use it less.
Community engagement is a vital element of this, but we also want to ensure that those living close to one of our projects gain a tangible benefit too. That’s why we’re looking to develop a community bond instrument for each of the sites we develop.
As an innovator in the industry we aim to set the standard for best practice in renewable energy generation development. This means thorough environmental quality assessments and community engagement are at the core of every project. More detail of our approach is in the case studies of Delabole, North Cornwall and others.
We have ambitious plans to develop additional renewable capacity for the UK, and we aim to build 50MW of new generation capacity in the next 5 years. We believe our unique combination of experience, commitment to renewables and project approach makes us the best partner.
Our approach in action - local pupils ponder Delabole wind farm
In December we invited local Delabole pupils to describe the new additions to their horizon. We were really impressed with their creativity, sending back poems, paintings and even naming the turbines.
