Campaigns
We might be a small company but our position as an innovator in the energy industry ensures we punch well above our weight when it comes to our green energy campaigns.
Whether it’s through HotROCS, HomeGen or Green Tariff Certification, Good Energy has consistently been ahead of the curve in government policy making. Our work with our customers and generators has allowed us to build an unmatched wealth of experience and in-depth technical understanding of renewable energy policy.
So while we’re proud to lead by example in the industry, a key part of achieving positive change in the energy industry is influencing policy-makers to promote the growth of renewables in the UK. Whether by building relationships with the right people in government; having a seat at the table in key consultations about the energy market; submitting briefing papers on major issues; or joining forces with like-minded campaign partners, we make sure our customers’ voice is heard on issues that we think will help to secure a better energy deal for the country.
Influencing Westminster
When the Coalition Government took office in May 2010 it claimed it would be ‘the greenest government ever.’ With the UK currently lagging behind its European counterparts in the deployment of renewable energy technology, energy prices expected to reach record highs and increasing uncertainty about our security of supply, Ministers will have to act quickly to ensure that we get the £200bn of investment we need in renewable energy infrastructure by 2020.
Good Energy occupies a unique position. Unlike traditional energy suppliers, we hold no vested interest in the maintenance of the fossil fuel-based status quo. We are only interested in addressing the reality that the fuels of the 20th century will not be the fuels of the 21st. As a supplier we are able to take a holistic view of the changes that need to be made to encourage greater clean, green energy supply. Our commitment to renewable energy is matched by our commitment to finding practical, working solutions that achieve it.
In addition to meeting key officials across all government departments, our CEO Juliet Davenport regularly meets with members of the Government and Opposition to put the case for a strong energy policy which will support the growth of renewables. We have a track-record of speaking out on behalf of our customers and generators, voicing their concerns and standing up for them when it matters.
Influencing industry
Our CEO Juliet sits on industry regulator Ofgem’s EnvironmentaL Advisory group and is often invited to speak at renewables industry events.
We’re always keen to hear from our customers and generators of what issues are affecting them, so we’ve set up an email address to allow them to do so. If you would like to send us your concerns, please do contact us via campaigns@goodenergy.co.uk
