Renewable Heat Incentive
Determined to encourage more renewable heat in the UK, we lobbied the Government for some time about introducing a Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)– a payment to support people generating their own heat.
To show how it could work, we launched Good Energy HotROCs in 2008, the UK’s first RHI, which pays domestic solar thermal generators for their heat energy with revenues from our Gas+ tariff.
We also contributed to the government consultation on RHI – and were very pleased when the Government launched a UK RHI for businesses in 2011, with a domestic scheme planned for October 2012. We continue to be in touch with Government ministers and officials at DECC to ensure our generators’ experience of dealing with renewable heat is communicated back to policymakers.
