For many years we campaigned for an independent accreditation body for green electricity; a vital tool for improving clarity for consumers, providing them with the ability to see which tariffs are genuinely green and which are just ‘greenwash’.

This came to fruition with the launch of the independent Green Energy Supply Certification Scheme in 2010. The scheme ensures that renewable energy products deliver a measurable environmental difference and that their provenance is fully guaranteed.

We worked closely with industry regulator Ofgem to develop the Green Supply Guidelines on which the certification scheme is based, and we chaired the working party which implemented the scheme.

And of course, our main tariff has been certified under the scheme.
