Good Energy now supports over 25,000 independent generators claiming the Feed-in Tariff (FIT), and we know it works - giving households, businesses and communities control over their energy bills as well as helping cut carbon emissions. We highlighted its success in our recent FIT Report.

Since October 2011, following a Government review of the scheme, it’s been dogged by uncertainty and confusion. We’ve been working hard to influence policy to ensure that FIT remains an effective tool for supporting decentralised generation.

We’re now busy digesting the results of the Government’s latest consultation launched in February 2012 and we’ll be submitting our own response in due course.  We’re pleased that they’ve taken on board our comments about the energy efficiency standard and social housing, whilst also providing a clearer path forward for the scheme. We’re also waiting for the outcome of DECC’s application to the Supreme Court on whether it can appeal against the Appeal Court ruling that its change of deadline was illegal.
