Trading update
RSS FeedThe Board of Good Energy Group PLC (the "Group"), owner of Good Energy, the UK's leading 100% renewable electricity supplier, is pleased to provide a trading update in respect of the year ended 31 December 2011.
Following the Company’s decision to hold electricity prices at the same price throughout 2011, unlike a number of its competitors, further progress was made in terms of adding new electricity and gas customers in the second half of the year. At 31 December Good Energy had 28,346 electricity and 5,492 gas customers, representing year-on-year growth of 8% and 66% respectively. This significant improvement in its competitive positioning has been as a result of ever-improving power trading systems and more flexible credit lines.
In addition, due to the considerable investment made by the Company in its systems and service levels over the past 18 months, the Company completed the year with a total of 12,195 customers in its Feed-in Tariff (FIT) administration business, including individual households and operators of domestic and industrial solar power plants. This is an increase of over 11,000 customers since the beginning of the year. The Company expects to provide its new FIT customers with the same high levels of service which led to it coming top in the Which? survey of customer satisfaction for energy suppliers published in 2012.
Good Energy’s wind development team continues to work on increasing the onshore wind asset base of the company, with its next most advanced project due to go into planning in February 2012. The 9.2 MW Delabole Project has generated over 24,700 MWh in its first year of operations, exceeding expectations.
Juliet Davenport, Chief Executive of Good Energy Group, said:
"We are pleased with the continuing improvement in our supply business, and that our considerable investment in the FIT administration business has allowed us to provide our market-leading services to an increasing number of generators. We are excited about the further opportunities to grow in 2012 as the momentum in decentralised generation continues. Good Energy is at the centre of the action as the UK continues to move to a lower-carbon future."
