Our wind and solar farms
As well as supporting our growing community of independent generators, we’re developing our own wind and solar farms to help meet increasing customer demand for 100% renewable electricity.
Generating our own power helps us provide greater price stability for Good Energy customers while also furthering our mission to tackle climate change and build energy security for the UK.
We’re proud of our wind farm in Delabole, Cornwall. It was the UK’s first commercial wind farm and has since enabled us to launch our pioneering local tariff offering cheaper renewable electricity to nearby homes.
But to support the UK in its target of 15% renewable energy generation by 2020 and achieve our vision of a future powered purely by renewables, we need more. That’s why we’re aiming to build enough new generating capacity to meet around half our expected customer demand by 2016.
We’re committed to ensuring local communities can share in the benefits of this renewable energy journey. So wherever we develop new wind and solar farms, we work with local people to develop a package of benefits and direct investments to create a positive legacy for communities and the environment. You can find more information on our work with local communities on the individual project pages.
We also want our projects to provide opportunities for local business. So we aim to use local contractors and other suppliers wherever possible during the construction and operation of all our wind and solar farms. If your company might be interested in tendering for work on one of our projects, we’d love to hear from you.
Please use this form to give us a few details about your company and the kind of work you’d be interested in and we’ll get in touch if we think there might be suitable opportunities.
