THE MACKIE’S STORY
At Mackie’s family farm in Aberdeenshire, three 50 meter wind turbines are powering the manufacture and storage of every tub of their delicious award-winning ice cream. Good Energy has been working with Mackie’s since 2005, buying all the surplus energy they are generating and securing sustainable power for the future.
Mac Mackie, Managing Director of the company spoke about the benefits the turbines bring: “This makes good sense for our business because our consumers have told us that it is important for them to know that their favourite ice cream is made with 100% renewable energy. It makes good financial sense, we are a rural business which needs significant power levels and will continue to need more as we grow.”
The partnership has been of real benefit for both companies and Mackie says, “A commitment to the environment is very important to both Mackie’s and Good Energy and we think that is a great place to start talking business. Good Energy has a professional, efficient approach and they are the kind of people we like to work with. We look forward to continuing our partnership for many years to come.”
