Choosing your installer
Microgeneration can only help solve our energy security and environmental challenges if quality products are installed correctly in the right locations.
This is why we have closely vetted the installers we work with to ensure that their workmanship is of the highest standard.
Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)
Good Energy strongly recommends that you only use installers and products that have been certified under the MCS.
The MCS is an internationally recognised quality assurance scheme which certifies that both the installer and the products they are installing have met rigorous and tested standards. It was designed with input from installers and product representatives. Similar to the Gas Safe Register, the MCS gives you a mark of competency and demonstrates a benchmark of quality.
To be eligible for the Feed-in-Tariff and get paid for your generation you must use an MCS accredited installer and have an MCS accredited system. If either the system you install or the company that installs it are not MCS certified you will not be eligible for the Feed-in Tariff and Good Energy cannot pay you for your generation.
The right installer for you
There are lots of good installers out there and if you take our survey we can recommend up to three installers that we know offer a great service and the highest level of workmanship. However, if you would prefer find an installer independently we'vee provided some tips to help you in your search:
1. Shop around
We'd always recommend getting at least three quotes before committing to an installer. Try not to be lead by who offers the best price, instead focus on the level of service they are providing. You will know when you've found the right installer for you.
2. Take your time
Investing in your own renewable generator is a big financial commitment so take your time and consider a quote carefully; don’t feel pressured into accepting a quote on the spot.
3. Talk to other generators
If you know someone who has had a system installed already we'd recommend talking to them, asking for advice and finding out which company installed their system.
