Good Energy pioneered incentives for renewable energy generators almost a decade ago and we’ve been delivering award-winning payment schemes ever since.

Now, with the launch of the Government’s Feed-in Tariff, we can help support microgenerators by delivering reliable payment and detailed support throughout the process.  Whatever the size of your renewable energy system, we have a payment scheme to suit you.

Before you start, find out if you are eligible for our Feed-in Tariff payment schemes by checking the general requirements. Providing you meet these requirements, you can apply for one of our payment schemes.

Good Energy HomeGen
Our award-winning HomeGen scheme has been devised especially for domestic generators typically 6 kilowatts (kW) in size or less, where the majority of the electricity produced is used on site.

Good Energy HomeGen pays you for your total generation (all the units you produce) as well as the units you export. For generators of this size, it has been agreed by the Government that the units of exported electricity should be estimated or ‘deemed.’ You can learn more about ‘deemed’ export in the Good Energy Feed-in Tariff Factfile.

Once your generator has been certified by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) and we have registered you successfully with Ofgem (the industry regulator), we will claim the Feed-in Tariff you are entitled to and pay it to you.

Good Energy SmartGen
SmartGen is designed for larger microgenerators – up to 100 kilowatts (kW) in size – that are typically able to produce more energy than is being used on site.

Unlike HomeGen, Good Energy SmartGen measures the amount of electricity you export with a meter – and where possible we make sure that meter is a smart meter. The rate we offer for your exported electricity is based on the market price for electricity as opposed to the standard Feed-in Tariff rate. This will be at least 3p and more likely 4 – 5p per unit, bringing greater value to you.
