Feed-in Tariff payment process
Payments to generators who are registered on the Feed-in Tariff are managed by energy supplier companies.
This is how it works;
- Good Energy collects meter readings from generators
- Good Energy submits payment claim to OFGEM
- Ofgem pays Good Energy
- Good Energy pays generators
This total process takes around 2 months to complete and payments are made to generators are soon as they have been process and are available.

FIT payment FAQs
Why does it take two months for my payment to be processed?
Good Energy make payments to generators once we have received payment from OFGEM from the levelisation fund. We process payments as quickly as we can once we have received the money from OFGEM.
When can I submit my FIT readings?
You can submit a FIT meter reading at any time. We will use the most recent meter reading from you to submit your FIT payment claim. You can submit a FIT reading online, or find out more about our meter reading mobile app.
I sent in my application months ago and haven't been asked for a meter reading yet. Why is this?
You will only be asked for a meter reading if you have been registered on the Feed-in Tariff by OFGEM. If you haven't received your letter confirming that your generator has been registered, this means that there are still outstanding queries on your application which have prevented it from being registered yet.
As soon as you receive confirmation that you have been registered, Good Energy will start sending meter reading requests to you each quarter. However, you will still receive payments from the eligibility date stated on your application.
It may also be possible that you’re not receiving Good Energy’s email requests for some other reason, so you should send us your FIT meter reading before the end of each quarter even if you haven’t heard from us.

If we don't have your bank details then your FIT payments may be delayed.
