The government has announced plans to provide every home with smart meters for remotely communicating electricity and gas consumption information to energy suppliers – and provide information to customers via a visual display device.
This will mean an end to estimated bills and make it easier for customers to monitor (and reduce) their consumption.
Good Energy has welcomed this initiative and we are running smart meter trials. We’ve been installing smart meters into a few of our large business customers’ offices since 2009 and we’re now installing smart meters for some of our domestic and small business customers including Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace.
Energy monitors can help now
If you would like to start tracking your energy consumption now, Good Energy offers several types of Energy Monitors in our shop www.goodenergyshop.co.uk, which we have tried and tested.
They differ from smart meters and we can’t base our bills on their information, but Energy Monitors do provide live data on energy consumption (in kWh/£/carbon), and offer the perfect interim tool to start reducing your usage now.
They range in price and complexity so to help you make the best choice for you we’ve created a comparison table which outlines their features and benefits;
Online meter readings
We offer an online meter reading service for customers to submit their readings easily, in order to receive regular up-to-date bills and help to track their usage. You can submit an online reading now.
