Deborah Meaden and Jarvis Smith presenting Juliet with the CEO of the Year Award

Yesterday evening was another fantastic night for Good Energy, with our CEO and founder, Juliet Davenport being named the CEO of the Year, and overall winner of the prestigious People and Environment (PEA) Business Achievement Awards. The ceremony saw the leading lights of green business gather to commend initiatives that are good for business as well as the planet. BBC TV presenter Liz Bonnin hosted the proceedings, and everything from the organic G&Ts to the ‘hint of green’ dress code celebrated all things sustainable.

Juliet was presented with the awards by entrepreneur and green ‘Dragon’ Deborah Meaden, who sat on the judging panel. The CEO of the Year award recognises a visionary CEO who most clearly demonstrates an outstanding commitment to sustainability in their market, and Juliet beat off some stiff competition to win.

The judges then also named Juliet the overall winner of all 14 categories, as she ‘shone out amongst other nominees for her mind-blowingly fantastic work’. This is an amazing achievement especially considering the calibre of the other award winners and finalists.

Juliet said: “I’m really pleased to have won this accolade, which is a great testament to the fantastic progress Good Energy has made recently.  In 2011 over 11,000 households, businesses and communities joined our homegrown energy revolution by generating their own clean, green renewable electricity.  They are the ‘mini power stations of the future’. Our vision is to empower people to take control of their own energy and I am looking forward to another successful year in 2012, making this vision a reality.”

The PEAB Awards demonstrate that some of the most innovative and successful organisations in the UK already build sustainability into everything they do. It’s great to get recognition for all of the hard work and effort, and may our award winning ways continue!
