John and Jess at Delabole

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming 150 pupils from St Peter’s Junior School to Delabole Wind Farm. The pupils, from Tavistock in Devon, had been learning all about the weather in class and their teacher decided a wind farm visit was the best way to demonstrate what the wind could do. It also gave the pupils a chance to learn more about the production of renewable electricity.

The children were greeted by Good Energy’s very own wind-farm experts Jess and John who gave them a brief talk about the history of the wind farm before treating them to a guided tour. They were shown the four new turbines, named Guinevere, Martha, Thomas and Titch by local children in Delabole. They all seemed to have a brilliant time and all were very enthusiastic, firing masses of questions.

We had some brilliant thank you letters and comments on the trip, including Harry who said: “We all got to look at the fast spinning turbines; we were all amazed. We all walked to a turbine called Guinevere. We got to feel it.”

The visit was finished with a trip to our friends at Delabole Community Primary School who impressed our guests with their school garden and chickens.
