Say hello to our 10,000th generator!

The Good Energy reception has been a hive of activity today with people coming in to drop off their FIT registration forms. But there was one visitor that we were particularly excited about welcoming. Andy Methley from Marshfield in Gloucestershire is Good Energy’s ten thousandth generator. Having begun the year on 1,200 generators we’re thrilled to have reached such a fantastic figure.
“This is a key landmark for us,” says Juliet Davenport, our CEO and founder. “Twelve years ago we were established with the aim of increasing the amount of renewable electricity generated and sold in the UK and we’ve been supporting small-scale independent generators since 2004 when we launched our innovative HomeGen and SmartGen schemes. This milestone demonstrates that our vision of a renewable electricity future, powered by homes and businesses across the UK, is starting to become a reality.”
After slicing and sampling the Good Energy cake (it’s delicious, by the way!) Andy explained what prompted he and his wife to start generating their own electricity from the sun.
“We had been planning to install solar PV for some time but the recent government announcement meant it suddenly became urgent. My wife is at home during the day with our one-year old son, so she’ll be able to use the electricity our solar panels generate. We see the Feed-in Tariff as a great opportunity and hope to really make the most out of generating our own electricity, reducing our bills at the same time.”

If you’re in the process of installing solar PV panels there’s still time to register for the higher FIT rate. The deadline is midnight this Sunday and the Good Energy offices will be open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday the 10th of December and from 12pm to 6pm on Sunday the 11th of December. There’ll be mince pies and mulled wine available to add some festive cheer to proceedings to so please do come along and say hi.
