Domestic solar PV We have just reached a milestone here at Good Energy on our journey towards a homegrown energy future. One in ten of our customers also now generate their own energy. Thanks to the Feed-in Tariff , increasing numbers of people are realising that they can not only save carbon but also make money. The government subsidy pays you for all the electricity you generate, even if you use it yourself. Those fortunate enough to be in the position to generate their own electricity are also more insulated from the volatility of global energy markets, which is currently pushing up prices in the UK.

As the technology matures, costs are dropping. The initial investment in solar PV, for example, now starts at £10,500 for a 2.2KW system. For a system this size on a south facing roof without shading using 50% of the electricity generated, the income (including electricity savings) can be up to £1,000 annually. This works out at a payback time of approximately 10-11 years. To find out more, contact a reputable MCS accredited installer who will provide a comprehensive quote based on your individual circumstances.

Good Energy pioneered the Feed-in Tariff concept back in 2004 and provided advice to the Government when it was developing the scheme. We are industry leaders and have the technology in place to administer the scheme very effectively, ensuring generators receive regular, prompt payment.

We're extremely proud of our customer community. Good Energy users tend to be very aware of their energy expenditure and on average use 10% less electricity than the average consumer. We can now add that 10% are ‘mini power stations’, so congratulations and keep up the good work. If you have not yet got around to it, check out our generation pages and become part of the homegrown energy revolution!
