A day out for the team at Good Energy

As part of the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, a Good Energy team last week spent the afternoon helping with land management at Cock Road Ridge on the eastern edge of Bristol.
Lush and green, Cock Road Ridge is a hidden oasis of walks, a diverse range of wildlife and magnificent views over Bristol and towards Bath. Most of the site comprises grassland and scrub, but there are areas of thicket, woodland, two ponds, hedgerows and an orchard.
Our task for the afternoon was to build a set of steps to improve access through the site, and to clear brambles from the orchard. After a quick picnic and the obligatory health and safety talk, we set to work in the sunshine. It was a great change from spending hours in the office glued to a computer screen, and I’m sure I’m not the only one at Good Energy who was aching a lot more than usual the next day!
We were helped out by Good Energy customer, Katherine from South Gloucestershire council, and some of the dedicated volunteers from the Friends of Cock Road Ridge, who devote a lot of effort into managing the site for everyone to enjoy.
It was great to get out and about to give some of our time to a community project. We were even invited to come back again soon - so we must have done a good job too!
