Bjorn Lomborg

When it comes to putting global warming in perspective there is no more contentious (and crowd-drawing) figure to debate this than the climate-skeptic-convert Bjorn Lomborg. Good Energy’s founder and CEO Juliet Davenport will be joining Peter Madden, Director of Forum for the Future and Professor Jim Longhurst of the University of West England on a panel to discuss Bjorn’s case for how to best tackle global warming.

Most (in)famous for his books “The Skeptical Environmentalist” and “Cool It: The Skeptical Environmentalist’s Guide to Global Warming” (now also a film, “Cool It”) – each one matched almost page for page by a prolific output of papers criticising his work – Bjorn surprised the environmental world by dramatically shifting his opinion with the publication of his book “Smart Solutions to Climate Change: Comparing Costs and Benefits” in September last year.

In truth, Bjorn has always said global warming is happening, and that it is largely caused by humans; it has been his consistent criticism of what he perceived as exaggeration of how much it mattered that angered staunch climate change campaigners and environmentalists so much. But in “Smart Solutions to Climate Change: Comparing Costs and Benefits” he disputed his own beliefs, stating that climate change is “undoubtedly one of the chief concerns facing the world” and “a challenge that humanity must confront.”

We’ve got a pair of tickets to give away to the event – happening at At-Bristol on May 31st from 6:30-8:30pm. To be in with a chance to win we want to hear your questions for Bjorn and the panel. Post them here, on Twitter (don't forget to put @Good_Energy in your response - we won't see it otherwise!) or on Facebook. We’ll announce the winner on Friday so keep your eyes peeled.

Tickets can also be picked up from At-Bristol for just £7.20 / £5.60. Contact At-Bristol on 0845 4586 499, book online, or pop in. Please note there is a 10% charge for online bookings. We look forward to seeing you there.
