Wiltshire’s answer to the Oscars (!), the Wiltshire Life Awards recognise both the unsung heroes and the leading lights of the county. Good Energy was very pleased to hear we had been shortlisted for the Environmental Excellence in Business Award, so on behalf of the rest of the Chippenham team, we dusted off our black tie outfits to join the other nominees for a glamorous awards ceremony in Marlborough Town Hall.

The Environmental Excellence in Business category recognises a Wiltshire-based business “who have a strong sense of identity and financial success, illustrate sound staff motivation and growth and a sustainable and responsible ‘green’ business model.” We were up against some tough local opposition, including Good Energy customer Wellington Barn, and were delighted when we were named as winners. Environmental excellence is what Good Energy is all about and it’s fantastic to be acknowledged, especially by our local region. For me personally, as a newcomer to Good Energy it’s inspirational to join an award-winning organisation and to see firsthand how highly the company is regarded.

As a newcomer to Wiltshire too, it was fantastic to hear about all of the amazing people and businesses here. We heard about families who have been producing prize beef for 600 years at the same farm, and about village shops that are breathing new life into rural communities. Heroes from the armed forces, the milliner to future royals, and a local who ran 100 marathons in 100 days for charity - Wiltshire is a thriving county with many high achievers, and Good Energy is proud to be one of them.
