Climate Week Controversy Poll: The Results
RSS FeedLast week’s Climate Week event created a lot of controversy, particularly around its sponsors. We chose not to officially support the event when we were approached back in 2009, but felt that the increased awareness of environmental issues during this week made it a good time to talk about Good Energy and what we’re trying to achieve. You can read more about this here.
Never ones to shy away from a good debate we set up an online poll so our supporters could let us know how they felt about the event and our actions around it. We’ve collated the results below.
Our customers and supporters include some of the most passionate and committed climate change campaigners out there. This means they’re often the first to send heartfelt compliments when we do something they like. But it also means they can be our harshest critics when we do something they don’t.
While the majority agreed with our decision to not officially endorse Climate Week it’s interesting to see that almost 80% felt that doing our own thing around it was a good one. We certainly had a tremendous response to the initiatives we ran over the course of the week with significant numbers of people switching their electricity supply to Good Energy and many more recommending their friends and families to do so too. We want to empower as many people as possible to make a difference through their electricity supply and it was important to us to show our customers our own alternative vision of Climate Week; a vision we are actively promoting every single day of the year. It would seem that you feel the same.
We’d like to thank everyone who shared their thoughts on Climate Week with us and we’ll be sure to bear them in mind for next year.
