Countdown to Copenhagen - Campaigning

RSS Feed

Posted on: 20.10.09 Category: Campaigns,

Our government needs to go to Copenhagen with clear support for pushing through radical commitments to tackling climate change. So we need to send a clear signal that we are ready. We want change. We believe the world can move to a sustainable economy. And we want them to fight for it at Copenhagen.

At Green Energy Republic we like to make things easy for you, so we have compiled a list of campaigns that you can get involved in. Many of them are just adding your name to a petition or emailing politicians. Please take 10 minutes out of your day to add your voice to every one of the below (or at least all those you agree with), And even better, send all your friends the link to this page, and ask them to do the same.

We cannot underestimate the importance of this…

If you are as yet unfamiliar with the meeting then read our introduction to Copenhagen here.

Action Aid / 10:10 – CountDown to Copenhagen
A campaign to get school children’s voices heard and leaders listening, by helping young people form action committees and getting messages out there. If you have kids or know any who can help get a starter pack right here:

Christian Aid

Started off by calling on us to email Gordon Brown and Barack Obama to tell them they must be at the climate meetings, as a deal is more likely with their presence. They have succeeded with Gordon Brown. Now we need to email him and tell him that he MUST deliver a deal.

They are all asking people to make the pledge:

  •     Campaign for a fair and just deal in Copenhagen
  •     Lobby the richest to repay their carbon debt
  •     Do all I can to reduce my own carbon footprint
  •     Pass this pledge on to my community, friends and family
