Spain generates 40% of it’s power from wind
RSS FeedDuring a particularly windy spell last week Spain was generating 40% of its power from wind. This amazing feat flies in the face of arguments that wind energy can only “top up” on the base load, and makes a mockery of the UK’s 2% wind power.
Wind farms in north east Spain produced over 11,000 MW of clean energy, thriving on strong winds. Spain has an impressive record when it comes to renewables, and it is hoped it will be generating an average of 30% of its total energy from renewables by as soon as 2010.
