A joint ownership agreement between Norwegian firms StatoilHydro and Statkraft has breathed new life into an 88 turbine, 315MW offshore wind farm, securing funding and a thumbs up for the project. The 35sq KM spread will produce 1.1TWh annually. That's enough power for 220 000 UK homes with construction to begin later this year – hoping to be completed by as soon as 2011.  The plant will be positioned between 17 and 30 Km off the coast of the town of Sheringham in Norfolk.

It’s great to see wind investments ploughing ahead during tough economic times, and particularly to see oil companies diversifying their skills into wind.

We’ll keep you up to date on developments.
