A new film about climate change is set to hit the silver screen on the 20th March, and the producers are trying hard to walk the talk. The glitzy Leicester Square premiere of The Age of Stupid sets out to be the greenest opening night ever hosted, with solar-powered projectors, tents heated by landfill gas, stars arriving by electric cars and bikes, and the famous red carpet being replaced with a sustainably woven green one.

The film, starring Pete Postlethwaite, is a 2055 retrospect of an archivist looking back on opportunities wasted to avoid the worsening effects of climate change. The Guardian calls it “the first successful dramatisation of climate change to hit the big screen.” The bold project aims to attract 250 million viewers worldwide and galvanise them into climate activists through the NOT STUPID campaign.

It’s highly ambitious, kicking off with an attempt to get the premiere into the Guinness Book of Records for the largest crowd to attend -- the star arrivals, film and after-film Q&A will be beamed by satellite to cinemas across the UK to a target audience of 16,000 people.

So get on down to your local participating cinema and help spread the message. You can even organise your own screening.
