We’ve always had an inkling Good Energy customers were the intellectual types, and if listening to Radio 4 is anything to go by, we’re right. Thanks from us to Elaine Storrick, a long-term Good Energy customer for calling in to yesterday’s You and Yours show to discuss her new solar thermal system and our hotroc scheme. Elaine is one of the many solar thermal users to sign up for our scheme and get paid for the renewable heat she is generating. We are the only company to be offering solar heating incentives so if you have an installation find out how you can get paid for it.

The programme discusses the issues of climate change slipping off the agenda whilst we deal with a broken economy. It’s an interesting debate, and one we’ll be going into in more detail in the coming weeks. The reaction from listeners is a good mix. There are certainly negative responses – an 80-year-old couple had looked into solar panels and decided the pay back wouldn’t be soon enough! On the other hand, a caller from a sustainable building firm claims that his volume of work has gone through the roof (ho ho).

To listen to the show, visit the You and Yours site and on the right hand side there is a  link to Tuesday’s episode under “listen again”.

Good Energy also has a scheme for paying solar pv users. If you are not familiar with it, our homegen scheme pays customers for every unit of renewable electricity they generate, even if they use it themselves. We’ve been running it successfully for quite a few years now, showing that it is possible to reward microgenerators and reduce their payback time for their investments. Learn more about our schemes here.
