We’ve had a great response to the campaign so far.
Since the Early Day Motion was tabled by Liberal Democrat MP Alistair Carmichael, a fantastic 93 more MPs have added their names to the list to back the campaign. Hopefully more will follow! Keep tabs on our backers here: http://edmi.parliament.uk/EDMi/EDMDetails.aspx?EDMID=40573&SESSION=903
The petition now has over 2,200 signatures which is brilliant.
Lots of Good Energy’s renewable generators have also got in touch to let us know their thoughts on the campaign and the Government’s plans. Here’s what they’ve been telling us…
“We made our commitment to PV solar generation in order to make a difference rather than a defined payback on our investment […] It is galling that the government’s tariff is significantly less than we are currently receiving.”
“It makes me want to take the whole thing down and bin it, and I’m not kidding. (The real sickener is we only got it done before the 15th because the installer had a cancellation….)”
“I totally support your campaign and have already written to my MP. Please keep up the good work!”
“Thanks very much for doing this. We’ve had solar panels since 1993, and feel the new scheme is rather queue-jumping us!”
“I think it is wrong too. What is so special about that date? Having installed our PV panels in March, on the basis of ‘the government is going to make large increases later this year’ (which they did, but not as large as the present £900 or so), we feel rather aggrieved. How many others are in our position?”
“As we installed our solar panels in February 2009, we are also really annoyed that we will not receive the increased tariff. Amazing that the Government can discriminate purely on the date of installation.”
We’ll keep you updated on any developments. If you’d like to tell us your thoughts, why not leave us a comment on our blog, www.greenenergyrepublic.com, email us at press@goodenergy.co.uk or check out our facebook and twitter pages (search for Good Energy and you’ll find us).
